My First Horse Lesson is a program designed for young children or other individuals who may have a fear of full sized horses. We start with very basic safety, grooming and communication with horses. We do not offer riding lessons, but allow our students to learn how to groom and care for the horses. They learn basic safety, saddling and handling of horses. Young children are allowed to ride the horses led by staff members briefly after grooming and saddling the horse.

The miniature horses are small enough to allow even toddlers access to the body, neck and head of the horse, rather than a bird's eye view of just the horses legs.

The miniature horses used for My First Horse Lesson have visited pre-schools and students with physical and mental special needs. The horses have been selected specifically for their calm nature.

My First Horse Lesson made its debut at the El Dorado County Fair 2006. We will continue bringing the horse experience to children through lessons at our ranch or at your location. Please call us to schedule lessons for groups or individuals. We will also work with your scout troup, preschool, club or organization.

Lessons are $20 for 20 to 40 minutes, depending on the student's attention span. We will take children of any age, provided they are old enough to walk and follow some basic instructions. A discount is given for four lessons prepaid - $70.00

We will travel to your location for an additional fee, depending on the distance from Rescue.

Pony parties at our ranch or at your place. We charge $200 for 1.5 hours and one horse (10 children or less) or $250 for 1.5 hours and 2 horses (more than 10 children). Children of any age can ride, but we request that they be limited to 55 pounds.

We use at least 2 people at all times, one to handle the horse and one to monitor the kids riding. We bring helmets, which are required when children are on the horses.

Travel charges may be required depending on the distance from Rescue, CA

A $75.00 deposit is required to reserve your party date.
